Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: ‘It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to.’

I like that.

In Filipino culture light skinned Filipinos are given preferential treatment. It has a lot to do with American colonialism in the country but I hated it. I STILL have insecurities about how dark I am because a lot of adults around me would comment on how dark I got, especially during the summer. To this day, I have to repeat the words my fifth grade teacher gave me before I came to the US (because she knew I was in for some bs once I got here). She told me “you are golden brown, don’t let anyone tell you different.” If it honestly hadn’t been for that, I would’ve never been able to have confidence and I would probably believe what a lot of Filipinos believe. I’m not joking about how bad it is, they sell fucking bleach soap so you can lighten your skin. Almost all the movie stars and celebrities are pale as hell. It’s friggin disgusting.
It’s funny to see the difference between the Philippines and California. In the Philippines, you do every tiny, ridiculous, likely-unhealthy thing to make your skin “white” (yes, they call the products skin “whiteners” vs. skin “lighteners”). But in California, people pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to get that perfect “golden tan”. It’s absurd how unhappy everyone seems to be with whatever they were given.
I will always love the beach. There’s something so beautiful and wondrous in the power of waves.
This is why I can’t leave California.
I might be too young to settle down and marry, but I’m definitely too old to be playing anymore games. I’m too old to just be talking to someone, too old to not know what’s really going on, and too old to be entertaining somebody with no intention of making it work. At this age, I’m only interested in consistency, stability, respect and loyalty. And I want to hear someone tell me that they love me and know they Goddamn mean it.Unknown (via impetrate)
Truth. Some people really need to hear this.
